GC L-Arginine

Overview
GC L-Arginine Injection is designed for medical use, particularly in managing acute hyperammonemia and serving as a diagnostic aid in growth hormone secretion testing. Formulated with L-Arginine Hydrochloride, this injection provides effective treatment when oral administration is insufficient or precise medical intervention is needed.

Indications and Effects

  • Reduces blood ammonia levels in cases of:
    • Congenital urea cycle disorders such as Carbamyl phosphate synthetase deficiency, Ornithine transcarbamylase deficiency
    • Arginosuccinate synthetase deficiency, Arginosuccinate lyase deficiency, and lysinuric protein intolerance
  • Functions as an acidifying agent for severe metabolic alkalosis
  • Assists in pituitary function tests to measure growth hormone secretion, as an alternative or complement to insulin-induced hypoglycemia tests

Uses and Dosage

  • Hyperammonemia Management: Administer 0.2–1g of L-Arginine hydrochloride per kg of body weight intravenously over 1 hour for acute control.
  • Acidifying Agent: Dosage is based on plasma bicarbonate concentration and body weight.
  • Growth Hormone Testing: Administer 500 mg of L-Arginine hydrochloride per kg as a 10% solution intravenously over 30 minutes.

Diagnostic Procedure

  • Perform the test in the morning after fasting, with the patient resting for at least 30 minutes.
  • Blood samples are collected at 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, and 150 minutes to monitor growth hormone secretion accurately.
