Product Overview

Lidocaine Hydrochloride 2% w/v Solution for Injection is a local anaesthetic of the amide group, formulated for nerve blockade via percutaneous infiltration or to block major nerve plexuses such as the brachial plexus, for epidural anaesthesia, and for intravenous regional analgesia. Each 1ml of solution contains 2.0% w/v of Lidocaine Hydrochloride BP.

Composition

Active ingredient: lidocaine hydrochloride
Excipients: sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, dilute hydrochloric acid, water for injections

Dosage and Administration

Dosage should be adjusted according to patient response and site of administration, using the lowest concentration and smallest dose that produces the required effect. Maximum dose for healthy adults should not exceed 200mg. Children, elderly, and debilitated patients require smaller doses commensurate with age and physical status. For SC, IM, or IV injection, to be used only as directed by a physician.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active substance, to amide type anaesthetics, or to any excipients. Contraindicated in patients with complete heart block or hypovolaemia. Should be used with caution in patients with myasthenia gravis, epilepsy, congestive heart failure, bradycardia, or respiratory depression.

Shelf life: 4 years (48 months)
Storage: do not store above 25Β°C, keep in outer carton
If only part of an ampoule is used, the remainder should be discarded
