Reconstitute with 4.0 ml of sterile saline, either preservative free or bacteriostatic. This gives 5U per 0.1 ml, and syringe size does not change the dilution. Sanitize hands and wear medical gloves, remove the plastic cap without removing the metal ring, and swab the vial top with alcohol. Slowly inject the saline into the center of the vial, then gently swirl to mix without shaking. Let the prepared product rest for 5 minutes. Use a 30G or 31G, 0.5 inch needle for injection, and use a new needle for each treatment.
Botulinum toxin, 1 ml syringes with 20 gauge needles for drawing up, 30G 0.5 inch needles or 31G insulin syringes for injecting, 0.9% sodium chloride, alcohol pads, gauze and ice packs. A topical anesthetic and a marker are optional.
Before the procedure, avoid supplements and medications known to increase bruising. Cleanse the skin, remove makeup, disinfect the area and mark injection sites if needed. Tailor injections to individual needs. After injection, possible complications include bruising, ptosis and asymmetry. Apply pressure and ice to reduce bruising, avoid sleeping face down, bending over and vigorous exercise, and remain upright for up to 3 hours.
Once mixed, use within 24 hours where possible. Any remaining product should be refrigerated and can be used within one month, though effectiveness may decrease by up to 10%.
For professional use only. Practitioners should follow the recommended dosage and administration and understand the neuromuscular anatomy of the treatment area.
