Ellansé S

Ellansé S belongs to the Ellansé family from Sinclair: an injectable collagen stimulator in which polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres with a smooth, rounded surface sit inside a water-based carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) gel. Within the range it is the version with the shortest stated duration, stated by the brand owner as 18 months.

Formulation

  • PCL microspheres make up 30% of the product, each roughly 25–50 µm across
  • The remaining 70% is the CMC gel that carries them
  • Gel and microspheres are both resorbed over time through the body's normal metabolic routes
  • CE marked since 2009 (Class III)

The two parts act on different timescales. The CMC gel gives volume straight after placement, while the PCL spheres prompt the tissue to produce new collagen over time. Ellansé is therefore grouped with collagen stimulators rather than hyaluronic acid fillers.

The Ellansé line comprises S, M and L. They share the same composition but differ in PCL chain length, controlled by the manufacturer's STAT technology. Longer chains take more time to be resorbed; across the range this gives durations between one and four years. Practitioners choose the letter according to how long the correction is intended to last.
