Made by Ronas, Silk Peel (AHA 30%) is an exfoliating serum in a 50 ml dropper bottle. Its 30% concentration of alpha hydroxy acids – chiefly glycolic and lactic acid – loosens the dead cells that collect on the surface of the skin, leaving it looking smoother and brighter. Sodium hyaluronate and a group of plant extracts are added to keep the skin hydrated while the acids work.

Formulation

Glycolic and lactic acid lead the formula, buffered with triethanolamine and potassium hydroxide. Sodium hyaluronate supports moisture, while the botanical portion brings in pomegranate, fig fruit and leaf, Codonopsis lanceolata root (a bellflower), birch juice and kava extract. Xanthan gum gives the serum its body; methylparaben preserves it, and a fragrance is included.

Step by step

  1. Start with clean skin.
  2. Using the dropper, place one drop on each zone of the face – forehead, each cheek, chin.
  3. Work it in lightly with upward, outward strokes.
  4. Leave for between 2 and 15 minutes. Mild tingling during this time is expected.
  5. Take it off gently with a warm towel.
  6. Finish with moisturiser and a sunscreen with SPF.
