Smoke Evacuator

Treatment rooms that generate smoke or lingering odours during procedures can use the Smoke Evacuator, sold under the model name SSB Eva. It is a free-standing unit that draws air in through a hose and passes it through three separate filter stages before returning it to the room.

Device overview

Air pulled into the unit meets an activated carbon stage first. The manufacturer rates this layer at 97% efficiency against gases including NH3, SO3 and NO. Next comes a glass-fibre HEPA layer, specified at 99.97% for particles as fine as 0.3 Β΅m, and finally a glass-fibre ULPA layer rated at 99.99% for particles down to 0.1 Β΅m. Stacking the three means odour-causing gases and very fine particulate are each handled by a dedicated stage.

Clinical setting

Because the cabinet is compact, it can sit on the floor beside a couch or trolley where procedures such as laser work take place. The foot-switch mode lets the operator start and stop extraction without taking a hand away from the patient, while continuous mode suits longer sessions. Handling and storage

Position the unit close to the working area and fit the suction hose before switching on. Filters are consumables: inspect them regularly and change them on the interval the manufacturer sets out, since a saturated filter reduces airflow. At 16.5 kg the unit is easy enough to move between rooms but should rest on a stable surface.
