Super X Lotion

Made by Merikit, Super X Lotion is a T-zone preparation used to soften sebum and impurities inside the pores so they are easier to lift out during a facial. One bottle holds 300 ml, a practical size for salons and for frequent home use.

Formulation

The base combines witch hazel water with Saponaria officinalis (soapwort) leaf and root extract, both familiar in cleansing products. Three further botanicals round it off:

  • Viscum album extract – a mistletoe extract used for its soothing effect.
  • Peppermint extract – adds a fresh, cooling sensation and has an astringent quality.
  • Camellia extract – softens and helps cleanse the surface.

Where it is used

The lotion is applied to the oiliest parts of the face – typically the forehead, nose and chin – where the sebaceous glands are most active and blackheads, whiteheads and surplus oil tend to collect. Practitioner guidance

  1. Cleanse the face, then lay a warm, steamed towel over it so the pores open.
  2. Saturate cotton pads with the lotion and place them across the T-zone.
  3. Top the pads up as needed so they stay damp the whole time.
  4. After 15 to 20 minutes, once sebum begins to appear at the surface, take the pads off.
  5. Wipe away the loosened sebum and debris with a fresh cotton pad or swab.
