Where it is used

For aesthetic purposes the labelled use is the vertical frown lines between the brows. It is intended to temporarily soften how these glabellar lines look, where they are moderate or severe, in adult patients whose procerus and/or corrugator muscles are active. As there are no accessory proteins in the vial, the formulation is described as carrying a lower likelihood of antibodies forming.

Preparing the product

Reconstitute the powder using 0.9% (9 mg/ml) sterile saline. The product information sets out two options for aesthetic dilution:

  • Adding 2.5 ml of saline to the vial yields a dose of 4 units in each 0.1 ml.
  • Adding 2 ml of saline to the vial yields a dose of 5 units in each 0.1 ml.

Handling and storage

The vials do not need to be kept in a fridge before opening; room-temperature storage is permitted, with a shelf life given as up to three years.
